The past Sankranti weekend, January 12-15, With Multiple number of Big theatrical releases from Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood and Mollywood. Although it looks like Tollywood is leading with numbers. With Guntur kaaram, hanuman tollywood had two big movies. while kollywood with Captain miller and Ayalaan performing well at box office. After the big December clash of Salaar ceasefire part 1 and Dunki it was time for new movies to fill the seats again and combinely this year’s sankranti performed well for cinema.
The Action Drama movie Guntur kaaram starring Mahesh babu was the biggest opener of all movies. As we already knew and critics projected that Mahesh babu hold the potential of having biggest opener of all the available releases. But due to Mixed word of mouth Guntur Kaaram flopped at the box office just after the First day. whie collecting 41.3 Cr India nett on Opening day to only 70 Cr In the first weekend. The word of m0outh and Clash with multiple movies will make it hard for mahesh babu starrer to cross the breakeven. The Another reason is that Guntur kaaram is an regional movie and it limits it from getting some audience from others languages.
While Pan India Release Hanuman is Performing well and the Word of mouth is the factor. opening with just  9 Cr and Crossing 47 Cr in the first weekend. With 9.6 out of 10 Rating on Bookmyshow Hanuman is already a hit at box office and we may say that it will be blockbuster with Current growth. The Movie received only few screens but still competed with Mahesh Babu starrer in telugu states and now Hindi audience started watching it in big numbers.
“Captain Miller”, directed by Arun Matheswaran and released January 12, has failed to  live up to its potential during this festive season. After opening  with 8.80 crores on January 12 and earning 24.05 crores by Sunday’s end; its collections then  declined further on day four with just 6.55 crores coming in on Monday –  total box office collection now stands at 30.60 crores net in India.
Sivakarthikeyan’s “Ayalaan” has shown positive trends since opening on Friday. Thanks to positive  reviews and an upward trend, “Ayalaan” collected 13 crores net by Sunday; on Monday it experienced  another 26.41% jump to collect 6.70 crores compared to Sunday  earnings; the 4-day estimated collection is 19.70 crores which shows positive  projections through Thursday.
Merry Christmas Struggles to Gain Momentum:
“Merry Christmas,” an internationally acclaimed mystery thriller released on January 12 with Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi as leads, failed to gain  momentum as expected upon release on Sunday with collections totaling 9.45 crores  as of Sunday night; day 4 earnings  dropped between 1.45-1.60 crores as it  recorded total collections between 11.71-11.86 crores by Sunday  evening compared with Sunday earnings; this could pose challenges  against similar films like “Fighter.”
