Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar have done it again. Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge collected ₹102.55 crore net in India on its opening day (March 19, Thursday), making it the biggest opener of 2026 so far.
The film had already pulled in ₹43 crore net from paid previews on March 18. That brings the two-day total to roughly ₹145 crore net — a number most Bollywood films don’t reach in their entire first week.
Day 1 Numbers Breakdown
According to Sacnilk data, Dhurandhar 2 ran across 21,728 shows on Day 1 with an overall occupancy of 59.2%. Morning shows started at 42.85% occupancy, which jumped to 68.31% by evening — the highest evening occupancy for any film in 2026.
Language-wise Day 1 collection:
| Language | Net Collection | Shows | Occupancy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hindi | ₹99.10 Cr | 19,500 | 73.6% |
| Telugu | ₹2.12 Cr | 1,112 | 59.0% |
| Tamil | ₹1.16 Cr | 958 | 39.0% |
| Malayalam | ₹0.09 Cr | 96 | 80.0% |
| Kannada | ₹0.08 Cr | 62 | 46.0% |
Hindi screens dominated with nearly ₹99 crore of the total. But the 80% occupancy in Malayalam — despite having only 96 shows — shows strong demand in the south as well.
Worldwide Collection
Overseas markets added ₹64 crore on Day 1, pushing the worldwide total to ₹236.63 crore. India contributed 73% of that figure, with overseas making up the remaining 27%.
Which Records Did Dhurandhar 2 Break?
The film surpassed several major Bollywood openers:
| Film | Opening Day Net (India) |
|---|---|
| Dhurandhar 2 | ₹102.55 Cr |
| Jawan (Shah Rukh Khan) | ₹75.40 Cr |
| Animal (Ranbir Kapoor) | ₹64 Cr |
| Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) | ₹55-57 Cr |
| Stree 2 | ₹54 Cr |
Pushpa 2’s all-India opening day record still stands. But among Hindi-language films specifically, Dhurandhar 2 is now the biggest Day 1 ever.
Before the release itself, the film broke Pushpa 2’s BookMyShow record by selling 1.09 lakh tickets in a single hour.
Cast and Crew
Apart from Ranveer Singh in the lead, Dhurandhar 2 features Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Yami Gautam, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and Danish Pandor. Aditya Dhar directed the film, with Shashwat Sachdev handling the background score.
The film was released in five languages — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. Shooting took place across Bangkok, Punjab, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. Several locations doubled for Pakistan-set sequences in the story.
Celebrity Reactions
Allu Arjun tweeted his praise, calling the film “patriotism with swag” and highlighting the performances of both R. Madhavan and Ranveer Singh. Vijay Deverakonda also weighed in, calling Dhurandhar 2 a big moment for Indian cinema. Preity Zinta shared her reaction on social media as well.
Budget and OTT Deal
According to Koimoi, the film was reportedly made on a budget of ₹200-250 crore. With the Day 1 number at ₹102 crore net, the film has already recovered nearly half its budget on the first day alone.
On the OTT front, OTTplay reports that Dhurandhar 2 will stream on JioHotstar after its theatrical run. The first part had gone to Netflix, so the platform switch is worth noting for anyone waiting for the OTT release.
What’s Next?
Trade analysts are projecting that if this momentum holds through the weekend, Dhurandhar 2 could be on track for the ₹1000 crore net club. Friday (March 20) kicks off the weekend, so the next three days will be decisive.
There’s also buzz around a possible Dhurandhar 3, based on a post-credit scene in the film. No official confirmation yet, but the conversation has already started online.
